Come join our team of fun volunteers who work at least one day per week for a 3-8 hour shift! Be involved in both front desk duties, as well as helping to carry out fun programming for the children in our area!
Minimum Education/Experience Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- OR
- Training or experience in education, childcare or child development
Program-Wide Requirements:
General:
- Successfully pass Child Protection and criminal background checks
- Successfully complete orientation to program and role
- Exhibit professional appearance, following dress code policy
- Be punctual and present on scheduled days
- Display emotional maturity and professionalism at all times
- Be comfortable working with people of different ages and different abilities
- Able to spend periods of time at a computer, on the telephone, or operating office machines
- Able to work flexibly and responsively in a busy environment
- Able to identify and effectively intervene in unsafe situations or interactions
- Able to intervene and assist in directing patrons appropriately in cases of injury, fire or other emergencies
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with modern office procedures, practices and equipment, including the use of computers, the Internet, email and point-of-sales equipment
- Able to lead small groups of children, parents/caregivers and staff in activities
- Able to display positive attitude and enthusiasm for working with children
Team Orientation:
- Is a team player, and able to display a positive image of Western Maine Play Museum in the community
- Able to display respect and courtesy to all staff and patrons
- Able to participate in staff development plans in accordance with feedback from the Executive Director
